Released earlier this year, United States of Socialism is the book upon which Trump Card is based. D’Souza articulates that individuals who witnessed the global collapse of socialism in the last century are shocked at its resurrection today, and he poses the excellent question, “How can socialism work now when it has never worked before?” He explains how today’s “identity socialism” is a marriage between classic socialism and identity politics and how it trades on the resentments of race, gender, and sexual orientation.
