SCARW Delivers Turkey Dinners to Camp Pendleton
November 24, 2020
The San Clemente Area Republican Women Federated on November 24, 2020, delivered 70 turkeys, as well as several side dishes and pies, to
Marine Corps families at the DeLuz Community in Camp Pendleton.
SCARWF’s annual event enables the members to meet each family, wishing
them a happy Thanksgiving while thanking them for their service to the country.
With the help of Albertsons, located at 989 Avenida Pico,
members of the local group were able to raise the funds necessary to feed the military families.
We would like to give a special thanks to Albertsons for all there help!
2019 OPERATION BABY SHOWER UPDATE
The May 23, 2019 Baby Shower for 25 Military Mom's was a big success due
to the generosity of our ladies in SCARWF. It was very rewarding to see
these young Mom's to be have fun, eat, and receive all the special
gifts. They played 2 games and one was for the Mom's to walk around and
get to know each other, since most are from different states and some of
the Marines are deployed. One gal that was pregnant was actually the
Marine. Two newborns were there and one Mom was in the hospital. They
were very grateful for the shower and all the special gifts. We
received many thanks for what we had done.

2018 SCARWF MILITARY NOTES - Update
Camp Pendleton Deluz Community
SCARWF can only provide Thanksgiving Dinners Baskets for needy Marine families of the Deluz Community on Camp Pendleton with your help!
The number of families we help depends upon the donations we receive. Please help us match our record number of baskets provided last year of 68!
So far we only have received enough donations to do 30 baskets!! SO we need a lot more contributions from you!
The dinner baskets include a large turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, a vegetable, dinner rolls and a
pie and is estimated to serve 4 to 6 people. The cost of each dinner basket is $62-$65.00.
Donations can be sent to SCARWF at PO Box 3512, San Clemente, CA ,CA 92674.
Please make your check out to “cash" and on the memo write for Military Thanksgiving Basket.
Please send your donations ASAP so we can make the turkey order at Albertson’s Market by November 5th!!!
Last Day to Donate: at the November 14th General Meeting.

We will be driving down to Camp Pendleton on Tuesday, October 20th at noon. Everyone must be pre-cleared
to enter Camp Pendleton, so contact Vickie early to give ID info to be submitted to the Base!

Camp Pendleton Deluz Community
Our goal this year is to provide at least 35 Marine families with a Thanksgiving turkey dinner. Thanks to generous SCARWF members we are more than half way to our goal. Albertson’s (Talega) is giving us a special deal of $49.00 per Turkey dinner plus “something extra”. Please consider providing a dinner for a needy Marine family. Thanksgiving is a difficult time for military families. They are young, away from home and either the mother or father may be deployed.
At the meeting on November 8, the last meeting before the holiday, please place your donations in the box on the military table. Donations can also be mailed to SCARWF, PO Box 3512, San Clemente 92674. Our SCARWF volunteers will deliver the baskets on November 21.
In December we become Santa’s Elves for the Marine children of the Deluz Community at Camp Pendleton. At our December 13th meeting, please bring an unwrapped toy.
The military table is located at the entrance to our meeting. Take a minute to look at the pictures of the smiling Marine Moms, Dads, and children, in past years, as they were receiving their Thanksgiving Turkey Dinners.

SCARWF Thanksgiving Dinners for Marines Project
On November 22, nine members of the San Clemente Area Republican Women, Federated
traveled to Camp Pendleton to deliver turkey dinners to 29 military families of the DeLuz
Community. This year SCARWF provided dinners for 9 more families than a year ago. The
families who received the dinners all expressed their appreciation as several spoke of their
loneliness being away from home on this family holiday. Most had children with them, many
were pregnant and all had big smiles on their faces as they filled their arms with a big turkey
and a box which included stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, and cranberry sauce. This is
the Second Annual “Thanksgiving Dinners for the Marines Project” of the San Clemente Area
Republican Women which is completely funded by member donations. At their December
meeting they will be collecting toys for the children of the marine families.

SCARWF'S OPERATION BABY SHOWER!!!
On April 19th, 15 SCARWF ladies arrived at the DeLuz Community of Camp Pendleton for Operation Baby Shower.
With them they had lots of food, 25 layette boxes, each containing a handmade quilt, 3 onesies and an outfit, a receiving blanket, a toy, teething ring, pacifier and a hooded bath towel. In addition were 25 packages of diapers, 25 gifts for the mothers-to-be, game prizes, raffle prizes and door prizes, including 3 large gift baskets, a box of 180 diapers and a baby stroller. Twenty two guests enjoyed the food, games, gifts and social time. One Mom-to-be said she has been here only a week and was so lonely but because of the shower now has so many friends. Another gave birth the week before so our youngest attendee was adorable at 1 week old. We even registered 2 Republican voters! The huge smiles on all the faces were made possible by all SCARWF members with your very generous donations.
We received so many “thank yous” which we bring back to you!
